and the verdict is....
and here's the weirdest part of today...
i took ethan to the after hours clinic today because we thought it has gone on long enough and we just wanted to make sure that he's okay...and his throat was a little red and lo and behold...
he has strep.
weird.
apparently sometimes strep presents as gastrointeritis. weird. anyway, hopefully with our omnicef we will be on the mend soon.
thanks for all your prayers and well wishes!

this too shall pass...
but not yet.
still tossing his cookies....but he's in good spirits...amazing!
you know you've talked about where to throw up to your two year old too much when he starts crying like he's going to throw up and you say "run, ethan run" and he turns and runs straight for the bathroom....although he never made it...see previous post for a reiteration of my thankfulness for tile flooring. never a good sound...all over the floor. mmm mmm mmm...not good.
anyway, send up a little get better prayer for ethan.

still throwing it all up...
so ethan was fine on monday, just a little puny, low grade fever, no throwing up. tuesday...no fever and we ALMOST made it through the day until about 6:40 and he threw up all over the floor, thank heavens for tile floors! poor thing! then i was changing his diaper right after (also gross) and he looked at me and he said, "sorry for throwing up mommy" how could you really even feel bad about it after that? he was so cute and sincere. times like that make up for all the other yucky stuff huh? he's a sweet boy, wish he could stop tossing his cookies though:) hope none of the rest of us get it! may you all be vomit-free!

one of the joys of motherhood...
i say that a little bit sarcastically, although i love taking care of my children...when they get sick, i just get a little bit grossed out. i mean throw up sick, other sick i can deal with, but throw up sick, i feel nauseated as well! ethan has no fever or anything, just threw up on the way home from church in his car seat. and i'm not talking about a little bit of throw up, it was pretty prolific. and it smelled...like nasty! okay so i thought maybe he'd had too many fruit snacks or something in nursery that day (because i could see them ALL, in all thier undigested nasty glory, they were red by the way), and then we'd be done with that. so he had some applesauce for lunch and took a nap. then he got up and a few minutes after he got up...threw up again, all over me. it was very applesaucy, in both texture and color...and smell--like rancid apples. pretty gross. so he's been drinking gatorade and sprite (alternately) and he hasn't eaten anything else, mainly because he hasn't said he's hungry and i've been too scared to ask because if he's hungry and he eats....will he throw up again? and what is this stomach bug with no fever or anything? like i said, a joy of being a mother, but it's all part of the wonderful package deal (no sarcasm in that comment, just love:))

No News...
You know that saying, "No News is Good News"? I understand what that means, but I am at a place in my life where there's no news...meaning there's not much new and exciting going on, things happen and I think..."what could I write about that?" and I never can think of something interesting enough to actually put into cyberspace...weird.
so you moms out there...what do you do with your kids during the day? We have hit a slump in our regular activities...they are too regular and not active enough apparently. so what are some fun things you do during the day?
we are doing well...just trying to get used to each other, as always, just when i think i have got a handle on something it changes...we changed yesterday after i was telling my mom that maybe i was feeling a little more comfortable...i spoke too soon:) it's fine really, i just need to remember that all little people change at the speed of light and that's life, and life is good.
send those ideas on over of things you do during the day...we need some new inspiration!!!!

locked out...
It finally happened. I remember people telling me stories about how their children have locked them out of their houses and for that reason I always unlock our door when I get Ethan out and have to go back for Avery or groceries etc...except for yesterday, when I didn't unlock it and I was about one foot away from being able to put my foot in the door, holding Avery's carseat and ethan, laughing in a maniacal two-year old way, thought he was playing with me and SHUT THE DOOR! I had put my keys and bag down on the kitchen table so I could get Avery out of the car. so I am stunned and standing inches away from my two-year old son with no keys to ANYTHING (read: our car to be more specific) and no cell phone...this looks bad. I am talking to Ethan through the door and telling him I can't open it (because that's what he wants me to do as he slowly works himself into a freak-out)because my keys are inside, when I remember that we put an extra key in one of those nifty magnetic boxes on our car...lucky thing! Also lucky that Avery is alseep. So I get the key (which is usually so far under the car I have to lay down to get it but this time, it was easily within reach...prayers are answered:)) Then I tell Ethan I'm going to get a key, stay where you are, I'll be right back, and leave my small child in the house and drive away. That was scary to me but I tried not to think about it. It was almost 5 and I wasn't sure when the Housing Office closed but I was hoping not at 5. I pulled into a handicapped spot at the very front of the office, left the car running (with sleeping Avery in it, so I had more motivation to get in and out quickly) and ran inside and said, "My 2 year old son has locked me out of the house and I need a key, now!" so I gave them our address and then I left and they came a couple minutes later with the key. When I got to the house, I didn't hear Ethan crying at the door and I was afraid he had wandered away to Somewhere Else and jumped off something big and was hurt..but I knocked on the door and called his name and he was right by the door still! Whew! Then they came with the key...and we both cried some more and were shaky for a few minutes after that. Scary, then we decided he should NEVER do that again. Thank heavens for the people at the housing office who unlock doors.

bathing beauty...
here is a picture of avery's bath seat...
here is avery in her seat....
and while i was on the phone for an extended amount of time...this is what happened....
apparently he can get in the tub by himself, that's a new development, we'll have to keep our eyes on him even more now....why was the bathroom door open anyway? the world may never know.....

Schedule of a new mom...
so, here is some insight into how our time is parceled out for all those who may not have a little baby yet or need a reminder of what that's like:)
lately Avery has been eating every 2 hours...that's fun:) and that's two hours from when you started not when you ended....
she typically will sleep at night around 8 for a while, wake up at 1:30 or so in the morning to eat...wake up at 4:30 or so in the morning to eat. Enter Ethan who wakes up at 5 for some unholy reason...i go in to help him go back to sleep. Then Kendall gets up at 5:45 to get ready to go to school....Then Ethan is up for the day by 6 or so....Then if we are blessed Avery will keep sleeping until 7 or 7:30, then it's up for the day and eating eating eating for her. and a nap on the horizon...when? where? i love naps. i try to get one everyday but some days it's hard...
but would i trade it for anything? no. i love these children. they are my joy and even though mornings are never my favorite...Avery has started smiling at me and Ethan is pretty okay in the morning and he tells me he loves me, even though i'm grumpy...the love of children is amazing. i love it, so much! i wouldn't trade them for a million naps!

Blessing..
Avery was blessed on September 30th, by her father, and it was a beautiful blessing, if i say so myself:) we didn't get very good pictures of her, because by the time we got home to take some (kendall's dad was ordained a high priest right after her blessing so we hurried to that building to get that done and didn't have time between to take pictures) she was at her wit's end, and hungry so here is what i have for now...we are going to take some pictures of her in the dress sometime this week, hopefully:)
