anyone have any good book suggestions? i'm fresh out of ideas...if anyone has any, i'd love to hear them! you should also say why you like the book, just for kicks! i just got done reading The Alchemist and These is my Words, very good books both of them. to tell the truth i wasn't sure i was going to like either one, just from a judging-the-book-by-the-cover stance, but i ended up liking them a lot. the alchemist is a sort of fable that really makes you think, which i liked. These is my words is a journal (fiction) of an early pioneer in Arizona...very interesting, i'm glad i didn't live then..i probably couldn't have handled it but i really liked that she was a strong female role model in the book, it was well written and had some romance, which is always nice.
so what are you reading?

I need to get my copy back of These is my words from the library...AND I want to read The Atonement...I'm number 72 on the wait list at the library!!!
I thought that you always went back to your favorite author Nicholas Sparks when you were looking for a really good book...
I actually do have a suggestion. The other book club I'm in is reading a book called A Town Like Alice. I haven't started it yet, but the women that did read it LOVED it! It's by Neville Shute.
Let's see...have you ever read Map of the World by Jane Hamilton? It's a tragic, but thought-provoking book. If you're looking for a long one that's good The Poisonwood Bible by Barbara Kingsolver. Those are a few suggestions. I always like to go back to the classics too. East of Eden is awesome. Tina recommended it to me a couple years ago and we both loved it.
I am reading The Book Thief right now and I'm enjoying it. The author has a different writing style that really keeps you interested.
I echo Audrey's East of Eden recommendation- my favorite book. Also, if you've never read A/The (I can't remember which) Good Earth by Pearl S. Buck- you must- it's awesome.
thanks for the comments so far! i must make a list now! yes, audrey i do like nicholas sparks, to an extent, much of his writing is the same, but a small smattering has it's place. especially Three Weeks With My Brother which is autobiographical and very interesting:) i haven't read Map of the World but i've heard you talk about it...i'm going to have to look some of these up and get them from the library! thanks!
The Hiding Place by Corrie Ten Boom is what I am reading it is nonfiction about a Christian lady who helped the Jews during the Holocaust and went to a concentration camp for it. It's really inspiring also sad.
Since it's spring break for me, I finally started reading Nicholas Sparks' The Wedding, but I know you already read that, since I got it off your list for my list. ;) I've heard The Poisonwood Bible is good and The Hiding Place is also on my list, as others have recommended. Sorry I don't have anything new or enlightening for you.
