with the arrival of little baby man about 4 months away (closer than it ever has been) we must now turn our attention to some practical, logistical matters.
one of our children needs a different bed. there are several options for how this could go....
1. ethan stays in his toddler bed (he still fits fine in it and likes it a lot) and avery gets a toddler bed (we got ethan his bed when he was two and he loved it, so we thought of making it a tradition) and baby gets crib (which avery is in now).
2. ethan gets a twin bed (which would probably swallow him whole but be the bed he grows up with), avery gets ethan's toddler bed and baby gets the white crib.
3. ethan keeps his bed, avery keeps the crib, but it gets converted to a toddler bed and baby gets a new crib.
so you see there are several things we could do. i was initially worried that avery would need to keep the crib because she might be attached to it but we have been talking to her about getting a different bed and now i don't think she'll have a problem (cross fingers). so i'm not sure what to do. any suggestions????

Scotty sleeps in a double bed (and has since he was about 5 months old). I like it because sometimes, when he wakes up at 6:30am, I can go get in bed with him, cuddle, and he'll (*ahem* we'll) go back to sleep until 9.
I say go for the bigger bed (you'll have to make the purchase eventually) and have everyone move up 1 :-)
I vote for number 2. It will save money in the long run!
We got Elodie her big girl bed LONG before Addysen was even thought of. I opted for the BIG big girl bed because it's the bed she will sleep in until she is atleast 16.
So for me, it makes more sense to get Ethan a big boy bed. Who needs 2 cribs? Unless of course you plan to have twins! And even they sleep together for the first few months!
AND, if you got Ethan a bunkbed, he and baby brother could share down the road!!! Although that might be thinking WAY down the road! A little overwhelming
Get the big boy bed. He'll love it.
I say that you and Kendall get a new bed and the three kids all share because they are just little peanuts!
But really, I'd probably get Ethan a new bed. This is my pre-motherhood, awesome expert advice.
Yikes! Decisions, Decisions. I vote getting Avery a toddler bed and putting baby in the crib. The tradition is good. I would worry about big big beds after we are through with the moving process and into a more comfortable bigger space. . . the end. Rachel has spoken:)Good Luck Four months really. . . that can't be right! Craziness.
One thing, when we got Jessica a twin mattress, we went up a few levels at discount mattress store and ended up getting a REALLY nice mattress for about $130. It has been so worth having a nice mattress when someone comes to visit. Her bed is so comfortable for her now, when she gets older, and for adults that may stay over. (or us when she climbs into bed and hogs our side) It was worth the extra $30.
So funny! We are in the exact same boat! Mikayla still sleeps in her toddler bed and doesn't mind it and I never worry about her falling out, but I think she's almost 5 we'll get her a big girl twin bed for her bday and switch Megs to the toddler bed and give the crib to the baby. The logistics are interesting to work out though aren't they? All the transitions and stuff... :)
