VCR..

so a couple of weeks ago our VCR decided not to work and i, sadly, added it to the ever-growing list of things that don't work...see previous post about computer, and camera and those are just two...we haven't even touched the car yet...but i digress...so the VCR didn't work. which is especially sad because tonight starts American Idol and i usually tape it for kendall because he has young men's, so he said why don't you just try it to just see. the VCR said it had a tape in it..so i go to eject and no tape comes out so i look inside and what do i see....

socks.

that's right, three of avery's socks, no two of them the same, mind you, no wonder i've been wondering where all her socks have gone...

so little man must have been up to some mischief...upon being questioned about said socks in the VCR, it went like this...

me: "ethan did you put avery's socks in the VCR?
him: "yes, mommy"
me: "but ethan, socks don't go in the VCR"
him: "why?"
me: "just tapes go in there"
him: "oh"
me: "maybe you broke it, buddy"
him:"no, i didn't break it, it was just an accident"

oh, cause socks and tapes look a lot alike, but i know he didn't do it maliciously, probably while i was putting avery down sometime he wanted to see if it would work...boys' minds:) pretty funny, but now it seems to be working fine, so no worse for the wear.

and as soon as i figure out how to get pictures off the camera we have now, i will post a picture of the offending socks so you can see them:)

Silly boy! It's amazing what a few little socks will do to a VCR!

Oh my gosh you had me laughing so hard! I am excited for Scotty to get to that age... the interaction, the thought process, the talking to me...even the sock story sounds cute... Can I say I'm looking forward to that? Hopefully I'll have the patience I need when that day arrives :-)

funny, funny. you guys really do have the worst luck with things breaking. i've been noticing the trend. good thing this one was just a toddler mishap that didn't require another purchase. b/c many times a toddler mishap can get very expensive...my mother-in-law's floor lamp, red nail polish on her carpet that we had to cut out and replace, her glass plant stand, to name a few....i'm thinking they were more ready for us to move out than they were!

It was really you jen wasn't it! Your just trying to set yourself up with tivo!! Which by the way is the best replacement for the vcr!! OR Kendall got Ethan to do his dirty work so he could get himself a tivo!
Sorry you couldn't record AI...Chris tivo'd it and we watched it when I got home from work....a 2 hour program in a record 38 minutes!

That's a pretty funny story. I wonder what kind of program Ethan thought would come on through a pair of Avery's socks. I could imagine Elmo doing a special on Socks, but I wouldn't like to hear the "Sock Song" (to the tune of Jingle bells).

Dallin knocking Mia over is always an "accident" around here too. Anyway, I thought AI had way TOO many bad auditions to be entertaining and what was with that guy dressed as a belly dancer who actually waxed himself?! I wonder how much AI paid him for that....

Too funny. I always love to hear their reasoning for things. They are so innocent but so not at the same time.

He probably did you a big favor and dusted the inside of the VCR with all those socks. You should probably give him a treat actually.
