Half Ironman Triathlon 70.3

the big day for Kendall's Triathlon finally arrived yesterday, Saturday, and he did such an awesome job! we are all so proud of him for training so hard and finishing so well! it's a long race, 1.2 mile swim, 56 mile bike and 13.1 mile run. in that order...brutal, i can't even imagine it! and he did it in just under 7 and 1/2 hours:)  Great job honey! the race was in Show Low and Kendall and some of his family went up to stay in a hotel the night before because the race started at 6:30 in the morning...we drove up on the day of the race, after breakfast and a quick trip to the store....

one thing we got at the store, on our quick trip, was doughnuts (avery opted for no doughnut...crazy girl:)) but blake thoroughly enjoyed his...click on the picture to make it bigger, he's got glaze dried on his face, looks like he had fun!

blake and nana kara at the race, there was a bit of waiting around but we found things to do...play area, the kids exploring nature etc:)

ethan waiting for dad to come down the home stretch...

papa kyle, katie, kraig and you can just see avery's leg...

avery and papa

here's kendall halfway through the run...

done!!! coming down the last little bit...

he did a great job, still moving great at the end! didn't even cramp up or anything!

all i can say is i am wowed!!! he did such a great job and we are all so excited and proud of him for doing this! ethan asked him in the car on the way home, when he was going to do a full ironman...probably never was the answer:)  kendall feels that his schedule is more suited to training sufficiently for the olympic distance (which he has done before) and trying to improve his times on that race...so that may be what is next on the agenda as far as training goes...after a good long rest!!!! and some aloe for our sunburns, didn't think to bring sunscreen! what was i thinking?

Avery's First Day of Preschool

Avery had her first day of preschool on Tuesday, she was so ready and excited!!!  We love her teacher, ethan had her as well, and i'm excited for all that she will learn this year! Very fun!

I Believe in Fairies...

avery had her friend birthday party, finally! it has taken a while for us to find a saturday that would work, and then it was labor day weekend and some of our friends were out of town, so we missed them, but i couldn't let it go much later into september...that's just too late:)

we had a fairy party....
chocolate cupcakes of course, avery LOVES chocolate:)

fairy houses, as part of our decorations

our friends got here and we colored

pretty picture birthday girl

the fairies sent us on a scavenger hunt throughout the house to find the wings and wands and some fairy treats for our little fairies
after that we had a fairy dance party:)

we played pin the fairy on the flower

we made glitter playdough, the girls got to help put all the ingredients in and they especially liked putting the glitter in:)

each little fairy got their own bag of goodies to take home and, of course their wand and wings and playdough!

i think a fun time was had by all! yay for being done with birthday parties for a while:)  the next one is Blake's but not until Halloween:)
