We got a refurbished $400 Sony Cybershot for $175 direct from Sony. When I say refurbished it was mailed to a customer & never removed from the packaging because the lady meant to order silver, but accidentally ordered white. We have love it in all of its little point & shoot glory. It is a perfect "purse camera". Then only thing it is missing is the new screen on the front, for all those self portraits we take.

I won't tell you about my big girl- get the canon SD1300IS. Fry's Electronics. $202 with tax. Perfect purse camera!

I have a Kodak Z712 IS and I love it. It has been a wonderful camera for us and I've had it nearly 3 yrs. Got it for $220 new. It has a rechargeable Lithium-ion battery, I will not buy a camera that does not use rechargeable lithiums! They are great and have great battery life. I buy extra batteries off Ebay so I always have one in and one or two others charged. I'm getting ready to upgrade again, I think. I've been researching new cameras online and am looking at a DSLR. Just to further my photog. skills. I like the Nikon D3000 for now, I think I might go for a refurb. this time. Happy hunting and let us know what you decide!

Ours is a canon powershot 120X somethin'somethin'.
The amazing thing is that after we haven't bought one for a few years everything is amazingly better one of the ups to technology. Our last one died after 4 years with us and I was amazed at the new stuff available. Good luck on the hunt. When we went through the process I mostly looked for toughness. Something I thought could make it through the mafia and it was harder than I thought. They have made a lot of cameras lighter and just plain weenie. Although they are cheaper especially right now. I hope you find the right one for the fam!

I have been eyeing a Nikon coolpix 12 megapixel for the past 2 years. It finally went on sale at Best Buy for around $200. It was a package deal with an extra rechargeable battery, 4gb memory card, and a camera case. I love it, the screen on the back is fairly large. Plus, it is very easy to navigate the features. One, last thing. If you find a camera you like somewhere and it is carried at multiple stores including Best Buy, check out the price. Best Buy does price matching! Best of luck!

We have a Canon ELPH SD790 and I LOVE it, My goal is to have an SLR someday, but this is great for now. I love that it is small enough to keep in the diaper bag tied to the strap. It has pretty decent video and great battery life. We bought it 1 1/2 years ago.
